‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Secures Lead Cast

A new generation is set to take center stage in the upcoming TV adaptation of the beloved fantasy series ‘Harry Potter.’ The show has officially cast its leads as Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will take on the role of Ron Weasley. According to ‘Variety,’ more than 30,000 actors auditioned for these key roles following HBO’s open casting call last fall.

They plan to begin filming this summer. Casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The exceptional talent of these three actors is truly impressive, and we look forward to seeing their chemistry bring magic to the screen. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer/director Mark Mylod thanked the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. They said discovering so much young talent has been a joy.

Rising Stars and Esteemed Veterans Join Cast of New ‘Harry Potter’ Series

‘Variety’ says the ‘Harry Potter’ roles made Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint famous. The HBO series could do the same for McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout. These three actors are largely newcomers.

McLaughlin acted in ‘Grow’, an upcoming comedy on Sky starring Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuvel, while Stanton starred as Matilda in ‘Matilda: The Musical’ on the West End from 2023-2024. ‘Harry Potter’ will be Stout’s first major role.

They join fellow cast members John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Gardiner writes and executive produces the ‘Harry Potter’ series and also serves as showrunner. Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Bronte Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The series is executive produced by author J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bronte Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
