IRCTC Unveils SwaRail: A Unified App for All Railway Services

SwaRail

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced SwaRail, a new mobile application that brings together nearly all railway-related services under one digital platform.

Created by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail is currently in its testing phase (version v127) and is available on the Google Play Store for Android users. Although it’s not yet available on iOS, its launch marks a major move toward simplifying how people in India interact with railway services.

SwaRail is promoted as a “Super App”, aiming to provide a seamless experience for railway passengers. The app combines multiple services such as ticket booking, train information, food delivery, tourism packages, and real-time tracking into one interface. This integration eliminates the need for various separate apps, many of which previously failed to offer a smooth and user-friendly experience.

What Sets SwaRail Apart: Easy Access and All-in-One Dashboard

Users can either sign in with existing IRCTC credentials or create a new account using the Single Sign-On (SSO) feature. The app offers a modern and intuitive dashboard for users. It allows them to check PNR status, order meals, and explore tourism services with ease. Users can access all these features without needing to constantly switch tabs or log in multiple times.

The app’s live train tracking is a key feature, aiding during delays and platform changes. It gives real-time updates on train locations, schedules, and platform information, ensuring travelers stay informed throughout their journey.

Unlike traditional ticketing apps, SwaRail is designed as a complete travel companion, not just a booking tool. By integrating services like hotel bookings, sightseeing packages, and travel insurance, IRCTC expands its digital reach into the broader travel ecosystem.

Currently, the app is only available for Android users. iPhone users will need to wait for the upcoming iOS release. Since the app is still in open beta, users may encounter occasional bugs. Some interface issues might also appear as it continues to be refined.
