According to the DailyMail, a woman who was clinically dead for eight minutes shared striking details of her experience. She described feeling a deep sense of peace and witnessing her soul rise above her motionless body, adding that she believes “death is just an illusion.”
Brianna Lafferty, 33, from Colorado, said her body “gave up” due to a neurological condition called myoclonus dystonia. She recalled hearing a voice ask if she was ready before losing all physical awareness, and soon after, felt her soul floating above her lifeless body.
Out-of-Body Experience and Spiritual Awakening
Lafferty told the outlet, “I suddenly separated from my physical body,” adding, “I didn’t feel any pain—only a deep sense of peace and clarity. This detachment from my body made me realize how temporary and fragile our human experience is.”
She added, “Death is an illusion because the soul never dies. Our consciousness stays alive, and our essence simply transforms.” She continued, “I didn’t see or remember my human self. I remained completely still, yet I felt fully alive, aware, and more myself than ever before.”
While sharing her surreal experience, she recalled, “A higher presence or intelligence guided and watched over us with unconditional love.”
What Does a Person Experience During a Near-Death Encounter?
They are complex and not fully understood. However, scientists have collected testimonials from thousands of people who went through NDEs. According to a report, there are certain common themes in their experiences. They include out-of-body experiences, undertaking life review, seeing a bright light, feeling at peace, experiencing relief, and entering a tunnel.
As per a report by the University of Virginia, “Near-death experiences (NDEs) are intensely vivid and often life-transforming experiences, many of which occur under extreme physiological conditions such as trauma, ceasing of brain activity, deep general anesthesia or cardiac arrest in which no awareness or sensory experiences should be possible according to the prevailing views in neuroscience.”
